With recent news about her latest vocal issues, I was reminded that I had not put up the music video for UK artist sensation Adele and her long-anticipated single, "Someone Like You." I note the vocal problems first because as a singer myself, I always want the best for artists I support, and so I'm hoping my public call for her team & label to seek out proper doctors and better vocal coaching will be heard; let's not lose this phenomenal songstress to the pitfalls of the music industry. That being said, the video's easy-to-grasp cinematography mirrors the refined simplicity of the song, giving the viewer a chance to partake in Adele's strong beauty (only slightly accented by the well-done make-up & hair schematics) as well as some fine shots of Paris where the story takes place. The most notable moment is the final sequence where we see the lost love interest walking into the distance, to the silent dismay of Adele herself. A big cheer to director Jake Nava for capturing this beautifully, and a round of applause to everyone involved in the making of this video. Good music & imagery will always have a place in the annals of artistic history, as is evidenced here.
